In the summer of 1998 Lazer Vaudeville and composer Jesse Manno of Boulder,
Colorado collaborated to design a score that would capture the show's space age
effects and vaudeville spirit. Manno, who received a B.A. in Asian Studies from
the University of Colorado in Boulder, had just returned from touring and
studying in Turkey. The multi-faceted soundtrack he composed for Lazer
Vaudeville mixes electronic sound with Turkish saz, Macedonian tambura, Greek
bouzouki, bamboo flutes, Australian didjeridu, cello, Irish fiddle, and Indian /
Balkan percussion. The lively and lyrical recording, which the troupe sells on
CD, also features Manno on vocals, synthesizer, drums, and electric guitar.
Manno, who was born into a performing arts family in Manhattan, began composing
and recording in 1982 and has since created numerous original scores for dance,
theatre, film, and multimedia productions. His work has been presented across
the U.S. as well as in Germany, Switzerland, the U.K., Hong Kong, and Indonesia.
